DreamApply is a student recruitment system for more than 200 higher education institutions across 25+ countries.
During the summer of 2020, I worked with DreamApply to improve their product.
Duration: June -Aug 2020 // 2 months
Role: UX Design Intern
DreamApply's product was launched in 2011 and has undergone significant growth, resulting in its complexity. After holding initial discussions with the Product Manager, we agreed to focus on enhancing the student-facing side of the product, limiting the scope of the project.
I went through the application flow as a student, both on the web and mobile. I wrote down all the blockers and issues among the good practices as a list. I categorized all of the list items (such as visual consistency, expected behaviour, accessibility, error handling) and prioritized them based on the impact on the overall user experience, added explanations and best practices about why the issues are important and suggestions that could help to solve them to each list item.
I delivered an extensive report outlining recommendations for enhancing DreamApply's student-facing product, which facilitates the collection of university applications.
DreamApply decided to prioritize the improvement of the product's accessibility and fix inconsistencies and flaws in the applicants' experience. We collaborated to devise a plan for the next steps to enhance their product.
